Position Summary:
Currently Hiring at Austin and Conroe location for STAKING TECHNICIAN:
This position is responsible for the staking and design of residential, commercial, industrial, overhead and underground electric distribution facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
STAKING TECHNICIAN:
- Research, Preparation, Acquisition of easements.
- Notarize easements as necessary per customer request.
- Creation and Submission of all Types of Permits
- Read and interpret blue prints and specifications.
- Create designs and materials lists for overhead and underground distribution facilities
- Review as-builds. Correct as needed.
- Edit GIS to ensure accuracy and connectivity.
- Draw new distribution facilities within the Global Information System
- Call locates to ensure equipment can be installed at location.
- Prepare cost estimates for new line extensions and relocations.
- Oversee project(s). Ensure projects are completed to specifications on time, and within budget.
- Record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches and plats
- Utilize surveying instruments such as total stations, GPS equipment, prisms, theodolites and measuring equipment, and assorted tools
- Coordinate with right of way, construction crews, department planners and pole contacts departments
- Interpret, adhere to and enforce the National Electric Safety Code
- Provide proper and routine maintenance and care for assigned vehicles and tools
- Stay abreast of advances in technology
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of using computer systems, which may include setting up and using hardware and software programs, entering data or processing information
- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code and the National Electric Safety Code requirements relevant to distribution design issues
- Knowledge of mathematics.
- Knowledge of the cooperative’s distribution design and construction practices
- Knowledge of utility service guidelines and policies
- Knowledge of power system components, functions, ratings and limitations
- Knowledge of roadway, security and other lighting design practices
- Knowledge of GIS software applications
- Knowledge of specifications and drawings for distribution line construction
- Skilled in time management
- Skilled in prioritizing and managing changing priorities
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to listen and understand information verbally and in writing
- Ability to anticipate, identify, analyze and resolve conflict and problems
Minimum Qualifications – (Education, Experience, Certification, & Licensure):
- HS Diploma or equivalent AND
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
